I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Kids are very perceptive and know more than we think they do (or wish they do). I would say the appropriate age would be when she asks. For now, she's okay with knowing her aunt is in Heaven, but children are curious and start to wonder. She'll talk to other children about death and learn that there are many ways it happens (natural or unnatural). I was 7 when my sister's friend (who was 13 at the time) was murdered at her house by her older brother's drug dealer (she didn't even know he was into drugs). Her brother owed him money and waited until the parents were out of town, broke in, and slit both of their throats. I remember asking my mom what happened to her and she told me that she was murdered and then I asked why and my mom told me "because a very bad person wanted money for drugs". To this day, I still think about her and am actually scared to get involved in drugs because I see the effects it can have on people. Unfortunately, there are tragedies in life and as parents, it's up to you to teach your children how to handle them if/when they happen.
