What can i do now??

Question

i have had my xbox 360 since Christmas 06, and i turned it on today, after not using it for a couple weeks, (i dont use it often or get online often) but i decided i wanted to download the FIFA 08 Demo, so i got on xbox live, did an update,
and to my dismay
after i do the update and the system restarted, it froze after lke 5 minutes, then.....i restarted and got the RED RINGS OF DEATH
.......i restarted it and it worked fine, then after like 10 mins, it messed up again......and it started a couple more times before freezing, then....it just stopped and now only the red rings come out.....
did this have to do something with the update ??? or that i had not used it in a while???
**this is the first time i have ever had any problems with my 360 since i got it.....and i dont think i play enough of it for it to be something related to over using it .....

ANY HELP/SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED

ok you have the famous ring of death, there is a perm fix and a temp fix, perm is to send it back to Microsoft and they will replace it with a new chip set that does not have the problem or you could " cook" your 360 here is a how to

like the update was not right . or did not install correctly.
try again?
reset it and just play it.
its memory was borde?lol
