I was just wondering what people thought of these two books. Are they worth reading?

Everybody's happy nowadays.

(Sorry - I haven't read either).

Nah, I didn't think so. Ulysses might be worth reading if it was only 100 pages or so of that gobbledygook (and oh yeah, if there was actually some point to it all at the end). Brave was pretty flat and dated (probably not too many people remember that Henry Ford was a social philosopher--I know I didn't know it till I read a biography of him). And the outlook was kind of smirky and aloof.

Brave New World is awesome, very challenging and suprisingly relevant even today.

Ulysses is consistenly ranked at or near the top of any lists of the best books ever written, but I've NEVER met anyone who has actually read it. I tried a couple of James Joyce's books and found them excruciating.
