Why do conservatives share so many of the same goals as neo-nazis and klan members?

Somebody compared liberals to communists. Fair enough. Atleast you picked somebody on the same side of the political spectrum, instead of terrorists (which are right-wing socially conservative religious fundamentalists).

Both are part of the regressive right.Both see themselves as good American Cristian's who must protect and safe America.They seek to take the country back to an idealized past that never was and is based on fiction.George Bush senior once said America should be more like the Waltons again.
The GOP doesn't openly support blatant racism anymore but it's there beneath the surface and it shows in their aggression towards affirmative action and their hostility towards black leaders who try to speak out or anyone who has a liberal agenda.
Moist troublesome about this the great uninformed masses who realize the Klan is evil and would never associate with that group but are unaware of the similarities between them and large parts of the conservative movement.Those people reject anything the Klan would say on first sight but swallow the anti intellectual talking points of the anti liberal media ,Fox,talk radio,without realizing the ideology is the same or very much related.

The neo-nazis and klan members to not represent the majority of conservative American citizens in this country, just as communists do not represent the majority of liberals. Certain details of each perspective may be shared between the extremists and the representatives of each political persuasion; however, representing the views of conservatives as being akin to those of nazis and klansmen is like saying that all Islamic people are terrorists and all Jews are greedy. Stereotypical descriptions of people are unfortunate responses to angry individuals trying to further their own agenda.

The word you are looking for is 'fascism'. This group on the right that contains all the sub-groups you mentioned all have one thing in common = fascism.

Fascists seem to believe they have some entitled right to dictate to everyone else what they should believe in, how they should live their lives and to what depth they can speak out on their own beliefs.
