Schiphol (Amsterdam airport) is build in a polder, (reclaimed land) but it used to be a lake and has never been a swamp.

There might be airports build on what used to be swamp land, but I do not remember any, nor can I find any.
Most swamps are now considered wetlands and too important for animals to be used to build airports on.

netherlands was below sea level... i dont know if that means it was like the everglades before they built the dikes but...its possible. Venice lagoon is kind of swampish. Also we have lots of storks in poland and they are attracted to swamps. Generally speakign you dont find alligators or crocodiles in Europe.
