That is a sign that enough is enough. Talk to a counselor at school.

I knew I had to leave my second husband when I realized I was starting to believe all the mean things he said to me.

No, they are not right. They are taking out their anger and unhappiness and frustration on you.

I used to hold on to the negative cr*p my mom dished out- always a backhanded complement like I love your hairstyle but what did you do to the color- or I love your jeans but you need to lose 10lbs to make them fit perfectly. She has a way of pounding you with her opinions and never quite approving of how you live your life.
It sucked as a kid because I wanted that approval desperately. Now I approve of me! I ignore the negative or tell her she needs to keep her opinions to herself.
DON'T BELIEVE THE B**LSH*T! You have to learn to believe in you and tune out the negative.

I did when I was growing up, I had zero self esteem!! It took a lot of years to undo a lot of that mental abuse, luckily my Dad has changed and doesn't do that kind of mental beatings anymore!!

NOPE! I know myself better than that. People who say those things unfortunately are bitter and pathetic people...when they say things like that most likely is a reflection of how the see THEMSELVES.
