Well, as the Russian Cosmists said:

"Earth may be the cradle man but Man will not remain in the cradle forever." So it can mean Inter-planetary and Technological Innovation;

Or, as Sri Aurobindo stated: "Man is not the last rung in the evolutionary ladder; Man is to be superseded not by a material evolution but a Spiritual transformation where his hidden nature will rise up and begin the divination of all nature." So we can focus on the spiritual which would enable us to find our true selves.

Or lastly, remain steadfast and deplete the earth of energy and end in Nuclear war or etc.....it all actually depends on individual choices rather than as a communal or democratic spin-zone.

Well first you go into the ground and you become food and fertiliser then end up just bones (unless you were cremated) Then sometime in the future you will be woken up to find out where your final destination will be .Don't worry about your old body ,you will have a temporary one for a while .

down the path of our spirits journey, each moment, each day, we take a step, sometimes skipping, sometimes stumbling, we continue on,
i think we have alot of decisions to make, as with any journey, though there are some limitations, yet we impose more limitations upon ourself then necessary
i think of it literally like a trip, you may perceive that you can use the interstate or the backroads, yet you might not of even considered you could walk, and that slow, tedious walk actually opens up more possibilities, you are not limited by roads , by what other humans have designed and thought of, you can more create your own path!
and its you that decides what is important at the end of a particular stage of your journey, you consider what you think you should see/do/experience and what you really want to see/do /experience, and where you want to go next (out of the possibilities for next that you can imagine)

I heard a song shortly ago by a male R&B vocal group that I believe came out of the late 60's or early 70's, who recorded a song whose question and refrain was of that very name title and lyric. It was about love.

Thus your answer? -- up, ever upward, soaring into the ethers, midst the immortals, whereof we behold ourselves as lords.

It all depends on how one lives his life at present. The questions now are: Do we want to go on living?..Or do we want to cease existing? Where do we want to spend our eternity - in heaven?..or in hell? We're all gonna go somewhere. The choice is ours.
