Yes, she was the third actress to portray Annie in the 1979-81 Broadway musical, however I don't believe that she has ever had cancer. She left Annie because she outgrew the part and went on to star in "Square Pegs".

Yes, her first acting roles were as "July" and then the lead role in the Broadway musical Annie around 1977-1981 or 1982.
I have never heard that she had cancer, but she is very active with charitable organizations that include many events to support breast cancer as well as others.

yes she played Annie. She has not had cancer to my knowledge.
