Yes and depending on how long it has been going on it can take a very long time to recover from it. I have been going through that for the past five years and have felt a lot of the time that I have lost myself -
I dont know what happened today, maybe it was being free of the situation at last, but I suddenly "found myself".
I didnt know it was coming, that it was going to happen but suddenly the REAL me who I havent seen in years just burst out. Like the sun coming out after a very long gloomy period.
It was amazing, I almost felt high, and people I had met in the past five years, at a corner store I frequent were looking at me like "who is this person? we havent seen this from you before?" But it was positive, not like they thought I was nuts or anything and suddenly everyone was talking and laughing and it was - just good.
I usually just pay for my gas, say "thank you", and "I'm fine, how are you?" and leave --
It was a great feeling and I actually talked to a man who was there, whom I didnt know, and had fun doing it.
I know now that the real me does still exist and its just a matter of time --
I havent done anything special to recover, just been on my own, and I have been sleeping a lot, I think your spirit heals as well as the physical stresses while you are sleeping.
I had just said to a friend yesterday that I dont feel as if anyone would be interested in me, because I feel as if I dont exist anymore, I dont even flirt or even look at guys but today - it was like "hello I am back" and damn it felt good !!
It WILL happen once you separate yourself from this person.

Start by changing your phone number or do what I do, turn the ringer off and let the call go to the answering machine, Don;t return their calls don't answer your door. Avoid the areas they frequent. They eventually get the message,it's just some people take a little longer than others. This is easier than being rude or hurtful to their face. If you work with someone like this , always have something on hand that you "just have to get done now" . think up all your excuses BEFORE you see them . I have never been quick on my feet when caught off guard so have to have a cache of excuses on hand at all times. Look in the mirror every morning and say to yourself I am not willing to be used or taken of advantage of today and then get out there and JUST DO IT!

Rid your daily thoughts of anything negative. Refuse to allow anyone to be a negative influence in your life. Think nothing but happy positive thoughts. Try to pick up the book 'Rower of Positive Thinking'. Last and not least use the power of prayer in your daily life. If you personally know GOD and speak with HIM every day to give HIM praise and thanks for all that is good in your life and ask for HIS help and guidance you will be amazed at the results you will see. If you happen to be agnostic or atheist then you are alone in your battle and I feel sorry for you. In fact being without GOD in your thoughts and life is most likely at the root of your problems to begin with. Good luck.

How about a cruise, or an extended visit in the mountains.
Or, the more economical trip would be a good meal of
extra hot chilis and a fifth of tequila (eat the worm!).
Take two aspirins and call us in the morning.

1st things 1st... before you leave, look in your garden for a small stone,no bigger then 1/2 inch, and as red as you can find.call this stone 'the joker',and place it in a pocket on the right side of your body if you throw with your right hand, left side if you throw with your left.If on your day of fun you start to feel a little down put your right hand in your right pocket or which ever hand it may be,and hold 'the joker' and slowly repeat in your mind 3 times,'GO WITH A SMILE'.

I have had this most of my life. Has allmost sucked the life right out of me several times when i wanted to commit suicide. Music uplifts me and my animals. I do therapy and meds but it doesn't always(even usually) help. They say to think positive, hard to do, but I'm practicing.

Honestly, I feel you have to sit and meditate and call your spiritual energy back to you. Calling the four corners usually helps your inner streght return. No simple quote is gonna fix it.

i don't consider my self a vampire, but when ever someone has a cut, it's like all my senses get supercharged and all i want to do is drink blood, and lots of it. what's there to forgive my dear? did you mean "what if you had no idea it was happening to you?" well i guess the only thing that you can do to regain power is except that you are always in control of your life, no one else, only you.
