or does it act the same way water inside a cup, would, when you rotate the cup?...

give me a good reazon... this aint my homework, i totally randomly came up with this... as i looked at the sky.

think about it. we all know that wind is what mainly drives clowds around... however. Imagine there is not wind...

would the movement of the clowds be due to the rotation of the earth while the clowds stay in a single spot?...

any ideas?...

If the atmosphere did not rotate with the earth, the people on the equator would experience a 1000 mile-per-hour wind at all times.

The atmosphere of the Earth is affected by it's rotation, it is also affected (more so) by the sun, the oceans, the ice caps etc.
It makes for an extremely complex system, as you can tell by the hit or miss nature of weather forecasting.

you made me wonder, too.... our mountains.. do you think they act like scoops and push the air around as the world turns?.... could they be what gets the whole deal started moving?....

then, too, there's the warm-rises/cold-sinks air mass thing that causes movement, too...

good observation on the equator thing!!... wow!....
