Why isn't there one called "Gender and Mens studies"? MEn have problems too. Is Yahoo Answers guilty of sexual discrimination?

To Tera: YES! WE absolutely have. Who always got sent into battle to be killed in the most barbaric ways. Who always got enslaved to do murderess work like building the pyramids and the Panama canal? Who bore the brunt of construction projects while women slept in with the babies ,warm at home?

Tera: Actually it is governments that do those things and in some cases it was women who enslaved men and did indeed send them into battle as well. Queen Nefrateri used slaves in Egypt. Queen Isabella of Spain sent vast armies to die in battle. As well as many English Queens. My point was only that Men have a great deal of issues that haunt their psychie and need to be dealt with.

It should be labeled Gender Studies, without labeling it with Woman's Studies
We live in a prejudiced society, where people are favorited based on gender, age, and race. Not all people do it, but the discrimination still exists today

a million) Y!A has this section because GWS is a tutorial self-discipline in a lot of universities. 2) this is feminists reading and theorizing about how gendering occurs in societies and the outcome of this gendering 3) adult men's and gender study do no longer exist because no one has created such an section interior the international of acadaemia. females's and Gender study exist for much an same reason as community study, Jewish study, and so on. 4) it isn't females reading themselves. this is quite no longer about females, this is about social impacts 5) it isn't discriminatory because it is what this is termed. some universities nevertheless have females's study courses, yet maximum have replaced to females's and Gender or Gender and females's study 6) Feminists post with it because all of us understand why this is observed as what this is observed as. females's study replaced into meant to carry gentle onto the historic previous of females it is lacking from common texts, feminism, and to debate the outcome of the social construct of gender (no longer the organic and organic sex adjustments)

Oh the question... now let me count the ways,
and the times this question
has been asked,
in months
and
weeks
and
in days.
I'm sure there might be a LARGE vote for 'Men' '& Gender Studies' too, but until then, I've no problem visiting here.

I agree with you. Men very rarely get their own categories on such sites and yet men are often accused of not caring about their health etc. Could it be because no-one is encouraging them the same way women are inundated with sections telling us how to care for and examine our every nook and cranny??? Complain to Yahoo!, and be a champion for the equality of men!

Not exactly. They're simply cribbing from university women's-studies departments, many of whom are using this same title. Still, we talk about men so much here that renaming this place Gender Studies would be better for everyone.

The tendency in education is to deal with the people who have been in slave mode (relatively ) .
White males have been the slave owners ( domineering & controlling of women ) just like the Warren Jeffs FLDS gang .
OK , Jeffs gang is really a brilliantly masterminded pedOphile scheme , that just utilized the women to get several doz children so they would have a steady supply of young teen girls but ,
The basic attitude / mentality is all over , just less pronounced because of restrictive laws .
Sooo , the idea is to get those who have developed slave / subserviant mentality to realize there are other options . . . to realize they can provide and survive on their own .
Yes , the slave owners have mental problems , but
The first order of business is just to get the slaves out the door .
Later , society can worry about the "masters" having to clean up for themselves .

I'm with those who say it should just be "gender studies."
I don't think the fact that there is not a separate category is prima facie evidence of discrimination. It's evidence of the fact that there is a 50 or so year history of feminism and women's studies, so there is an interest and a body of literature, and a natural category.

It is unfair; and I hope you do get a man and gender studies. Just remember it's not the fault of the women whom come here to talk; it's the coordinators of yahoo.

Why should it be, there are categories for mens health and others perhaps have a look. Ask Yahoo to install a new category if you think you are being discriminated against.
