Why can't I uninstall programs from the standard Add or remove programs box?

...when I click on certain programs..there is no uninstall option.

Sounds like a spyware problem. Try running Spybot Search & Destroy.

Some programs have their own uninstall options. Start, click on program, look for that. If not, you'll have to do it manually.
