I recently subscribed to the Criminal Macabre comic series and fell in love with it. I didn't realize that there were comics out there made just for adults. I was wondering if there were any other comic series that were just for adults and had really great artwork and fantastic story telling. I'm looking for a comic that has quality writing like the kind you'd find in a novel (but in comic form).

I'd look at Fantagraphics they publish a lot of more adult fare. There are a lot of Adult Comics out there but what are you into; drama, humor etc:
My list would be:
Love and Rockets
American Flagg (good parody)
Peepshow (by Joe Matt)
American Splendor (Harvey Pekar)
Concrete
