i would like to know what you think a rough estimate would be for a 1979 Trans am. the cars body is in fairly good shape, no major rust or damage, just small dents and stuff that would be common for a car this old. the car has no engine or transmission. the interior is compleatly gone and the floor boards have been removed. this car would be a great project car. the reason i ask is cause this car is in danger of being crushed and i am thinking about purchasing the car and then reselling it. if i was in the position of restoring the car i would but i already have a 79' camaro and a 68' camaro that i'm working on. i would just like to know how much you think i could sell the car for.
P.S. I live outside st. louis, if that has any bearing on the cars value.

the car is in pretty good condition. it is very solid and would be a great project thats not in need of any panel replacement other than the floors. i think its in too good of shape to cut it up and sell. i think the car must have been a project that was started but never finished. i'm not saying that the body is perfect but it is only in need of minor body work.

i have owned 2 or 3 old t/a's . its a rare old car but you would make more parting it out than you would selling the whole thing. i know from experiance that the third member out of the rearend because its a possi. it would bring 300.00 or better alone. if the flares are still on it they would bring some big bucks to. they are about impossible to find used. if it was me i would buy it and part it out.

I knew a guy out here in southern NV, with a car in similar condition, and he couldnt get $300 for it. Didnt help that it was a brown car. I wanted it in the worst way, but still have too many projects hanging around my yard.
If it were a '70, you could probably get $500-1000 out of it, depending on completness of trim, but a 79 just isnt there yet.

Very stressful to choose. It relies upon on how plenty it has deteriorated, what recommendations are on it, etc. 1979 Firebirds arent somewhat proper. neither is the 403 Olds engine. besides the undeniable fact that, the low mileage makes it unique. A nicely restored seventy 9 TA is nicely worth around $15-20k. i might say the low mileage and unique condition ought to upload yet another 5-10k. that would positioned it someplace between 20-30k. the only possible way may well be to place it up for public sale.

If the floors are shot, it is not too good to crush. Don't worry about it. Let it go.
I have parted out 50 or so, and I know some other guys who do the same. You really can't sell a shell for any reasonable money. If it's totally perfect, it would really help somebody restoring one, but they won't really pay for that help.

Trunk floor rust free cut out properly is worth more then the shell. I think the screeming bird on the hood has seen it's better days should be melted down in China And sent back as three Cherry sedans.

Even though it is a trans-am and its a classic, with everything gutted, your best bet would be parting it out rather then selling it. For the whole car, you could probobly get 100-300$ depending on the condition, but if you part it out, you could probobly get that much from just the doors and hood.

I would grab the front spindles and check if it's got rear disks, if so grab the whole rear, if the glass and doors are good grab them, also dash and guages, grab the vin plates and steering wheel (gto guys can use them for the rare option) you could make around a grand easy parting that stuff out, so get the car for $150 $200

You can't save every car you see at the crusher. ...UNLESS... you are a multi billionaire.
This is the 3rd car I have seen in the last 5 minutes that you ask about for the same reason.
