Hold Cntrl Alt Del. Click on Task Manager. Then choose the tab processes. This will let you see what you are running.

If you want to stop programs from running when your computer startsup follow these instructions.

Click the start menu
click run
type msconfig
Click the startup tab
Uncheck any items you wish not to have startup when you turn your computer on.
save.
The next reboot will start with the new settings.

GL. Hopefully this helps.

CodeStuff Starter will show you what programs start at boot. However, I warn you, do not disable something from starting unless you KNOW it is not needed or you can really cause a lot of problems with your computer.

If you are on Linux, the Gnome and KDE Desktops have "Services" program that lets you see what is ran.

If you want to see running tasks that are currently running, pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE will bring up the task manager in Windows. On Linux it will vary.

You may also be interested in clearing out Spyware. Use Spybot Search and Destroy to do this on Windows. Linux is immune at this time to Spyware.

Hit ctrl-alt-delete and from the screen, choose Task Monitor.

Or, go to Start -> Run and type in taskmon.

This brings up the Task Monitor that can show you what applications are running, what processes are running, and other information.

You'll be interested in the process list.

Ctrl+Alt+Del will bring up the Task Manager showing all processes running at that time.
