I think fire fox is better because of the following reason:-
1) Initialize faster then internet explorer.
2) Rarely crashes down
3) Even it crashes down it will restore your work.
4) Restore your work even ur computer crashes down due to some error or your computer got shut down by mistake or without closing firefox.
5) Can change your themes and can give a new look to your browser.
6) set up password for your browser so that no other can access.
7) Spell check while u type (Installed dictionary).
8) can reopen the tab closed unfortunately from history toolbar (recently closed tabs).
9) frequent automatic updates to keep u up to the mark.
10) easy to handle and user friendly.
Con's:
1) Doesn't check the website and give remarks as Phishing Filter does in IE 7.
2) Have to install missing plug-ins depending on the websites u visit. where as IE have it mostly as default. (Well, firefox give u notification and link too to download plug-ins)

I definitely recommend Firefox, as it is much more w3c compliant than ie. If you are building sites, you will have to have both, of course, and Safari as well. (w3c are the internet standards body)
IE is slow and cumbersome, and it has a lot of quirks. Although it misses out or misuses many of the features which are a part of HTML, it has added stuff which i guess MS would call additional functionality, but since it is not compliant with the industry body, they are just a pain, because they make it much harder to set up a website which is user-friendly and works on all browsers. This is made even worse by the fact that they keep changing their little bugs and extras every version they bring out!
But if you are "just" a user you will be more interested in the fact that firefox is relatively free from hackers' attention, so that it is much more secure - which is obvious from the fact that, unlike IE, which issues security upgrades every couple of days, you don't have to keep upgrading it all the time. FF is also faster, and their tabbed browsing (which they have had for a long time) is better than the implementation on IE. The fact that IE put tabs on at all is evidence of FF's popularity, and you don't get that without being good.

I share my experience;
I use windows vista home basic; updated with all microsoft released updates. Internet explorer 7.0 is very good and frequency of IE crash is very very less;
I also use firefox with the updates so far, it also crashes once in a while like internet explorer.
I would recommed you using firefox for most of the times, there are few problems i face with firefox including i cannot play my Live TV from firefox. But it has more advantage of closing many sessions together and opening them all together. The very interesting part of firefox is though a website has expired certificate it will ask you if you still want to open it; but unfortunately my internet explorer does allow me to go forward?
Internet explorer is mostly good when you want to open your Outlook web access online, to read your emails. It provides most of the features easily from the web, but unfortunately firefox is not up to the mark of internet explorer.
Depending on your need you can choose IE or firefox both are good in there own ways.

The best way is to download Ccleaner here http://bitly.com/UrALrK
Or you can go on Windows operating system locate the command prompt and go there to do the following:
Create a Recovery file of system and date it today.
Then begin by;
delete the 'Temp' folders..they have hidden subfolders so you need to set the attributes in order to bypass this. For each subfolder delete all cookies and rubbish left behnd after install-uninstalled programs. Do a 'dir' command to check your progress. Make sure the 'Temp' file is empty.
goto c:\windows\prefetch and delete everything in there..no exceptions
goto c:\windows folder and delete all the '$' files that have been installed by updates. They can all be succesfully deleted and just take up disk space.
Locate the Internet Temporary Files..Check to see how high the saving level is..some have it set at 30 days..but that stores faaaar tooo much data..though it slows down the system overal. Keep this to a minimum..suggest 2 or 5 at most.
Delete all 'cookies' all those you don't need.
Locate the windows directory and go through the folders you know and those you don't need. Check this once a week at least. Some programs will install under XP as NT and older systems where there is no check of systems weight.
Check to see that system files have not changed since last booting. Things like .ini files or .bat are important items.
Check for 'Hidden Directories' all over the disk...do this at the command prompt:
dir *.* /ah wil show these hidden directories
Check the 'dir' command for all parameters

Firefox... it's more secure, has less bugs, etc. I switched to it a long time ago and have been very happy. Even with all the security software I have installed, I would still end up with malware when I was using Internet Explorer. After switching to Firefox, I've stayed nice and clean.

It's safer to use if your using a personal computer, but if there are others that uses your PC, it would be better not to forget to turn off the "remember password for this site" under security tab option.
All i can see are pros. I can't remember any cons while using Firefox.
I have not experience any terrible crash... (maybe not yet) very stable on my XP, it's so nice that it do updates all by itself.
I use an extension called fasterfox and it really makes the page viewing a few second faster than without it!
Tab browsing? it's so friendly to use! I think I can't browse the web now without it! I always miss it when I'm using IE6 on others PC.
try reading infos from their site, it would be a great help for you!

I would concurr with the others, saying that Firefox is "better" than IE7, as a USER.
As a programmer, I must say Firefox is a piece of ***!
Why?
Firefox is a relatively young browser. Because of this, many of the standards developed by MS have not been implemented, and FF lacks far behind IE in FUNCTIONALITY.
I positively hate anything from MS, but their first position on the market has made them "de facto" the standard in web browsers, and what works on IE MUST be implemented on all the others. It is not the case (yet).
Especially with websites that use AJAX (refresh of fields, images and so on on a page, WITHOUT reloading the entiere page), it crashes because it is not capable of handling the functions.
For any site that is STATIC, FF is fine, but for any site that needs to be interactive, FF can't cope. It does not resize "divisions", the cache cannot be controlled by the programmer (always on), you cannot pass "elements" with names "arrayed" etc...
Their list of bug has hit the 300,000 number (I debug it as well and have reported many). Many have been sorted out, but compatibility to standards is far from being achieved.
And for programmers that have to make their designs FF compatible, it leads to many useless lines of code.
A mere 16% of users use FF, but even with this low number, we must make our sites compatible.
A pitty. (and a headache)
For "Old sites" (over three years old), FF is fine.
For sites designed in Web 2.0 (interactive), use IE.
So, keep both! (and add Opera if you can).
When you get a site that "does not work" (or looks akward) on FF, view it with IE.
