the sadly inadequate and pitiful boy leaders whose egos push them to strut and preen like little banty roosters in front of a pea hen--"look at my tail feathers!" the world is about me, me me,
And the boys, the lads of endless summers I will tell you where they have gone, Lads who loved the girls and thought they were fooling mom they would be safe in their shiny boots and brass that sparkeled so in the sunlight, now the sunlight is gone and mom knew all along that he
wouldn't be coming home, and pushed back her tears and thought of other boys in other wars, and of other mothers and sweeheart's tears now dried to dust she curses this boy thing that all were once cheering about, and Oh the parade in all its splendor was hiding a red haze is that blood? a skeleton smirked and they disappeared into the planes winging home; boxes loaded, ever so gently, in another land now neatly stacked and crimson and blue, white stars and hustled out of view but that is all forgotten now as every cell, every sense, every nerve ending
is exquisitely tuned to this one moment in time compressed to one second within a second so that time stands still and there is no sound but a cacaphony of
sound that it is like a thousand hells
unleashed and is that lightening so close it is not white but strangely blue and then red and branding iron hot it sears the brain and your ears and nose are filled with blood and dirt and chokes
off the scream that you swallowed so hard it is impossible to catch a breath
on your kneers digging a hole your nails are jagged and broken there's no place to hide--
sounds are so loud, sobs are drowned by shrieks and the silence that follows is the worst cause that's when
you have to think and wonder that today would be your last but you dont go-
the fluids they shoot into your still heart brings you back gasping and protesting and you burp out all the prayers taught in Sunday School and someone has to be joking you about the pain, right? It is vicious and why is it so hot even though a huge cast loocks your leg so you cannot move it, it is packed in ice and the only way is to retreat into the safty of darkness for 17 days while air is pumped into your lungs andf off somewhere you hear the word --coma--and when to pull the plug
and you remember that song when everyone was young and it was at mcArthur Park
the girls never said no and they smiled and meant it when they said they loved only you and everyone shared
food and rides and good times and there were lots of kids and more dogs and smoking then like a haze over the park,
all was peaceful..far out!
Grinning..yeah..fer sure, man..fer sure
and that song played
where have all the young men gone
and then you are one of the young men and they cut off all your hair and taught you how to shoot a gun,
.. and after coming home everyone asked what's wrong and after awhile they didn't ask anymore
and the boys, still show up sometimes in
those dreams, far out..yaa grinning, far out.

Most people want peace........ you got that right BUT even though they WANT peace they aren't doing enough to help...
People who do , however, are outnumbered by people who do nothing to help. Peace is where peace is. The flowers have not gone but are only waiting to be found........

nothing has changed. it's the same as it was 30 or more years ago. in the 70's, the hippies campaigned for peace. not much has changed since then. most people want peace.

Sad as it is man has fought man since times immemorial.
It we were to wipe ourselves out and a passing space ship that had observed Earth for millinia would leave the following epitaph.
"War and killing were the only things they excelled at"

i think that a couple of people have made some bad mistakes, which have set other people off and followed their bad examles. Like going to iraq with no escape plan- following a bad example.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The earth laughs in flowers", and the earth is not laughing now. We have been disrespectful to her, and when we do not live in harmony with nature, then we encounter strife in our lives.
