He seems like a really nice guy, Mandy??? Jesus Christ, the man wants to eviscerate America from the face of the earth. He would look you in the eye and shoot you dead where you stand, then he would laugh at your dead, bleeding body. You're American, and that's enough for him.
If any American government official wanted to speak at an Iranian university, they would laugh first, blow his head off, then ask his dead body why he wanted to speak at their university.
Columbia University's regents and officials have gone off the deep end. I have serious doubts about whether or not they should lose their accreditation. This whole thing is patently ridiculous. First of all, the First Amendment does not extend to this man because he is not an American in the first place. Second, HE AND HIS COUNTRYMEN MEAN TO DO US HARM!!! And third, he's picking a university known for its journalism grads so he can start endoctrinating them early.
Nice guy indeed. This is Iran we're talking about, sweetheart, not Disneyland.

becuase he is a supporter of terrorist and terrorisim.
That is enough of a reason. would you be ok if they had Slobodan MiloÅ¡eviÄ voice his veiws there too (well if he wasnt dead) or how about pol pot?
mandyrose143 He seems like a really nice guy?!! I really hope you are kidding and not that uniformed.
lltrix you are the one who needs a history lesson. There is a huge difference between Saudi Arabia a goverment that has hunted down terrorist and even had shoot outs with them killing many terrorist, but had some of their citizens commit terrorist acts and The President of a country actually funding and training terrorsist like hamas and a bunch of others.
As for you acusation of blackwater being death squads. It's amazing how you have convicted them before foacts have came out. It has never happened that the news jumped on a story that turned out to be not true. We dont know the who what or why in the incident but they are guilty in your eyes already. Have you been in iraq? Have you seen what goes on there? No you havent I can tell by yourr views. You got your history lesson from CNN I got mine from being there. The insurgents shot at outr troops and blackwater contractors while hiding in civilian population they hide behind women and children. I know this 1st hand. I was shot by an insurgent who was hidding behind women and children
His Visa should state he can go from the plane to the UN then back to the plane.

Oh the irony is never ending. I can't stand the man but he shouldn't be censored. It's obvious if the Bush administration didn't want him in the country, they would have prevented him from coming in just like they have many writers and artists from other countries. The irony lies in that many people say that he and Iran sponsor terrorism. Which is true, but it is much like the pot calling the kettle black. Our country supports terrorist sponsoring countries too. Countries like Saudi Arabia where most of the hijackers on 9/11 came from, Bin Laden and Al Qaeda in the 80's, terrorists in Iraq now through Black Water, death squads in Iraq's military and police forces. Our country also sponsored government terrorists in the form of death squads in central America who murdered not only El Salvadoran and Nicaraguan peasants who were innocent but also Americans working in those countries for the poor peasants. You people need a big history lesson and a lesson about how your GOP operated government operates whenever the GOP is in power. Do you know what country your tax dollars are going to murder the poor and innocent men, women and children?
I find it funny that the many liberal students some of the people on these boards are blaming for his coming to speak on campus are also JEWISH. Get a clue people, it's called free speech. And, if he is the enemy, don't you think it's more wise to know more about your enemy? Freedom of speech should never be suppressed in our great country, no matter how objectionable you might feel it is.

Amadinijad was one of the hostage takers at the Iran embassy. Most have forgotten, but two marine guards died in that unprovoked attack on American lives, territory, and property. The Ayatollah Khomeini declared war on the U.S. shortly there after. A declaration they have yet to renounce.

He shouldn't. Iran is becoming a more powerful force in the middle east, I think it would be prudent for America to instigate conversation and diplomacy with Iran.
Yes, many people are against him and what he stands for, but the supression of speech (especially objectionable speach) is wrong. Columbia's program with Ahmadinejad is split evenly between him answering questions and him talking, giving people the opportunity to understand one of the more influential people in the regions.
America is a great country because it allows despotic rules such as Ahmadinejad t o speak. Speech shouldn't be opressed just because you find it objectionable...unless of course it instigates violence.

I don't even know why Columbia U wants him to speak as his views are surely already widely known. Are they expecting something different just because THEY invited him? Whoopee he's coming, let's get all excited because he will see how great we are and in two hours time learn all about freedom. Aargh.

I think he should be banned from coming to America much less speaking anywhere. I don't see why anyone would want to listen to anything he had to say.

Because he wants to kill all Americans. Yes, he actually said so.
By the way, why would you capitalize "Iran" but not "American"? Aside from being grammatically incorrect, you've disrespected the U.S.A..
subwlimnuflik: You are 100% correct. I can't imagine how horrifying it was for the former hostages to read the paper one day and have to see his sick face.

He shouldn't be banned. I saw him in an interview on dateline or something. He seemed like he was a really nice guy. He just wants his country to grow and we are stepping on his head. I would go to watch him speak.
Our government isn't as much about free speach as we think they might be. I mean, they even try saying that the Americans run their government. This is such BS. If that was the case, this war never would have happened.

If someone told you that they had a gun and that they hated you because of your race or religion, and then told you that they were going to kill you and slaughter your family, would you invite that person to your house to eat dinner?
There is absolutely no difference between the situation I gave above and what Columbia University wants to do, except instead of a gun, it is WMDs and your family has 250 million members.
