I know that it is called astral projection, has this ever happened to anyone else. Waking up completely paralyzed, when you try and scream you can't. Do you realy believe that when this happens we are somewhere else visiting, or do you think it's just our minds playing tricks on us?
I use to have it happen to me all the time, sometimes twice a night. I never remembered anything until I tried to move and I couldn't. Just would like to see what other people about this astral projection.

And because it use to happen all the time, I now have to sleep with my television on in order to get a full night sleep without any problems.

Waking Paralysis:
Some degree of physical paralysis is a sure sign an OOBE is IN PROGRESS. It shows the mind split, in some form, has already occurred. The physical body has varying degrees of difficulty animating itself when the mind split effect is active. Even though they may not be aware a projection is in progress, a projector's physical/etheric body may feel total physical paralysis, or some degree of lethargy and heaviness and disorientation in their physical body. The degree of this depends greatly upon the strength of the projection and how much energy is being used to maintain it. Strong sensations like these point to an OOBE being in progress.

Waking paralysis (often called sleep paralysis) will also occur where the real time body has been generated 'inside' the physical/etheric body, but actual separation or full projection from the physical/etheric bodies has not occurred. This means a partial projection has occurred, albeit internally, and is causing some degree of waking paralysis. The real time 'projectable double' in this case has not projected completely free of it's physical body. If this is suspected, the projector should relax and let it happen, or use a projection technique like rope. A full projection can then occur if it has not already happened.

Sleep paralysis is said to be part of astral projection, when the soul is coming back into the body, but the person wakes up unknowingly while the spirit is suppose to come back into the body. I guess I am more a spiritual person.

I had been in same problem as you around I was 12 - 20 years old. And in the end I know why that happened to me because I had bad thing happening (rape victim when I were 6 years) on my life and I could not tell someone also I could not received it (I always think why that happened to me and I am afraid to tell someone about that) I keep it inside with all hurt and anger.
Astral projection is like other shape of soul shock that I feel.
I could pass it after I were 20 years old, when I could tell my problem to someone and tried to received it is a part of my life and there is not my fault .
So if you have some problem try to speak with someone close to you , I hope Is not like mine

I hate to break this to you, but it's not astral projection, it's called sleep paralysis. It's like sleep walking, in that something goes wrong with your sleep sequence. Normally, you fall asleep, your body shuts off so you can dream and not hurt yourself, then you stop dreaming, your body turns back on and you wake up. In sleep paralysis, the last two steps get reversed, so you wake up before your body turns back on. It lasts a short time and that is it. Sorry it's not glamorous like astral projection, but that's the truth of what happens. (For sleepwalkers, the body doesn't shut off at all, and they can hurt themselves, so take heart that -- while it's scary to not be able to move, at least you can't hurt yourself.)

This is Sleep Paralysis. Basically your mind wakes up but your body doesn't. Most people think this happens when you are suddenly awaken from REM sleep.

I have had that happen recently, and read an article about it. It is called "sleep paralysis". Here is an article link that discusses it:

As for astral projection...I have heard of that as well, but have no expertise on that subject.

Yes I have - more than several times and like you said, sometimes twice a night. It wasn't always at night, though. It happened several times while I was taking a nap. Luckily, I haven't experienced those in the last 10 years.

Sometimes I dream there is an invisible killer in my room and I can't move or scream for help. I usually start praying in my dream when this happens. After a while it passes. But I never forget those dreams.

I got it a few times and felt like someone is pushing a pillow on top of me and not allowing me to wake up. I know its Satan so I just pray and sleep with the Bible near to me. Happier now.... But yeah its astral projection just that I hate to think its science when it drives me out of my mind in shock and fear

You are waking in the middle of a REM cycle of sleep. This is the stage in which you dream, and you cannot move. It sounds like you are having nightmares and waking at some point in the dream.

Have you ever tried making yourself more relaxed or something? Probably it's just the mind playing tricks on you or you simply just don't like sleeping alone...
