I heard about him a few years ago and I did a ton of research and became intrigued. However, I've never met anyone else who's ever heard of him (other than hardcore F1 fans).

I loved this guy, when I was living in Europe and followed the F1 circuit this Brazilian guy was the greatest..I consider him one of the greatest who has ever driven in the sport.. He died way way way to young..he could have race 8-10 more yrs..I think maybe the reason you have not found many people who have heard of him...they just do not follow F1...unforunately here in american it just does not get any recognition. I am a avid Nascar fan, but I still follow f1, I have a friend that is a racing photographer in europe so I stay in touch with f1 I love it..and I was lucky enough to live in europe for 6 yrs, I went to tons of f1 races and loved every race, the color, glamour, passion, technology, people, speed, and the sound of the cars..I kinda think when Senna died, the sport almost died for a while.. The races I saw this guy win..I will never forget..

well, im not a really hardcore f1 fan, but i know about ayrton senna and his successful career. he is often mentioned nowadays because of a feud with his teammate before, which is mirrored by the lewis-fernando rivalry today.
it's really too bad his death was caused by his career, and i think he was at his peaked, or if not, still famous at that time. he previously held the record for number of pole positions, but michael eventually topped that.
ayrton senna - an f1 legend

Ayrton Senna is considered by many to be the best driver ever in F1, including me!!

During his career, we saw him race against another great, Alain Prost....and both in the same McLaren team...something that SchMACKER always carefully avoided!

Watch as much as you can on youtube...it's a shame you were not able to see him when he was alive.
