Certainly, if you have a large enough pond or tank for keeping them. I got a 6 inch one on a redworm when fishing one time, and I added it to a 300 native tank I was keeping at the time. He did quite well living on commercial fish food (a mix of cichlid pellets and algae pellets with bloodworms, brine shrimp, and earthworms as treats.

Considering these will grow in excess of 3 feet, you should have a several thousand gallon pond to keep one long term.

Well, goldfish are in the carp family, and they are kept as pets. I don't see why not, you would just need a big place to put it. We had wild catfish once as pets.

No. Why would you want to? They are so ugly. Besides, they help clean lakes and rivers. Fish are meant to be in their natural habitats. Carp get huge! You would have to have a really large pond in your yard. I mean, really large.

you need a very large tank.... somewhere around 300 gallons. THEY are larger, but a KEY IMPORTANT factor is you need a strong tank.

i mean strong....

they are powerful swimmers and fully grown adults can break standard smaller tanks. they are also alittle jumpers.

Just like lung fish, you should have not only a massive tank, but one that is custom with extra thick glass so their power cant break the glass.

It is illegal, but nobody cares. The turtle will get a soft shell and go blind if you are not very careful.
