#2) if a hydrogen is removed from the original methane molecule and a CH3 group has been added. what substance has been made? and how does it differ from an aldehyde??

Where do I get one of those?

CH2O is commonly called formaldehyde (methanone?)

Sounds like ethane, which is a gas while CH2O is a liquid at room temperature.

It's not clear which molecule you are talking about. Assuming it is CH2O, you will form methanal (methyl alcohol) CH3OH.
