at some point you just have to shrug your shoulders and let it be their problem.

When confronted with such an individual, I then become forced to accept the reality that nothing I can say, nothing I can do, is going to change this person's mind...they are going to believe what they want to believe and are in no way going to show any admission to the possibility they could be wrong.

Each of us has their own opinion and perception of what is factual, what is truthful...some of those perceptions are so fragile that they can easily be swayed by a plausible and convincing argument to the opposite...this is why most of us listen to others with an open mind.

On the other hand, some individuals are so stubbornly set in their ways that no amount of convincing is going to change their position as to where they believe the truth lies, even if in their heart of hearts they know they are wrong...
even then, pride and their own obstinance prevents them from facing (and confronting) reality, and thereby accepting the truth.

Sometimes you have to see the proof. Talk to them. Explain to them how they're wrong and what you know to be the truth. If they still won't accept it, then you've done all you can do. Maybe they have no proof other than what they know. Explain to them how you know what you know.Did that make any sense? I love how people are saying that it's "their problem". If you want to help someone find out the truth, then do whatever you can. Don't just give half a**ed or no explanation. They won't ever know then. If you want them to know the truth, then you'll tell them, regardless.

What can you do indeed? Give it time, some people know the truth but just won't look at it. That usually doesn't last though, sooner or later you have to deal.

People are constantly like that. If they cant handle the truth you atleast have the good feeling of knowing that you told them the truth it is up to them to decide how they should take it.

What CAN you do? Let's see:
1) Get angry and harbor resentment?
No. I wouldn't do that.
2) Get angry and take action by degrading and insulting them? No, that's also not for me.
3) Get angry and take action by threatening violence?
A little too extreme for me.
4) Get angry and take action through violence?
That's idiotic.
5) Accept that they're an adult and are capable of making decisions and hope they don't judge you based on lies they perceive to be true?
That's probably the best choice.

There's really nothing much you can do except to not push them and let them realize it on their own. Once they have then just be there for them.

You can only do so much. You can't force them. Give them some time. They'll come around when they're ready.
