what should a parent do when their 13 year old has a cold? As parents should we still pamper her even when she's 13? What should we do? She has complained about not getting enough attention when she has a bad cold and runny nose. All we have done for now is treat her to her favorite food and give her medicine. What exactly do you do when your teen has a cold?

she has been going to school and she has been through a lot lately, that's why we pamper her sometimes.

she has had it for about two weeks and hasn't been complaining until about four days ago. one day we found her crying because she said she felt really sick.

I'm 13 and when I'm sick all I get is a day off from school, medication and put in my room until dinner or if I need to get up. No pampering, she's old enough she should care for herself, all she has to do is lay in bed, drink lots of liquids, take meds, and let the cold pass. If she complains even more about it, take her to a doctor, good luck.

Are you sure it's just a cold? A cold usually only lasts for about 7-10 days and if she says she is feeling worse it could be a sinus infection. Perhaps a visit to the doctor would be in order.

well i never asked for attention when i have a cold, i even went to school with a cold, even when i have a headache from the cold, just let her be and give her medicine, maybe some warm food or cocoa and leave her be, and no cold icy food like ice cream

IF she had this for about 2 weeks like you stated above, this is not a cold. This is allergies, take her to a doctor to find out for sure if she has allergies, and she would be given some medication for the allergies if she is diganosed with allergies.

Make them rest, lots of fluids and tissues. Give cold medicine and thats about it. Oh, then when feeling better, reinforce good handwashing, etc.
