glucose
lysis in gylcolysis literally means breaking down
therefore it is the breakdown of glucose, hence the starting material..although that's not really strict in a sense because other substance from the breakdown of fats or proteins can enter glycolysis at a particular step in the reaction

Semantically, glucose is probably correct. Glycogen is found in most of the tissues of the body especially muscle and liver as storage for glucose. Glycogen can readily be converted to glucose via glycogenolysis and then glycolysis follows..

Starting material is actually
Glucose i.e. C(6)H(12)O(6)

Which gives 2 molecules of pyruvic acide [pyruvates] in end of glycolysis

Glucoseis produced by photosynthesis using H(2)O and CO(2)
