For a 2.5 gallon tank with an under gravel filter and air pump, what are my options for fish. I know that goldfish are out, and I can't have more than three small fish.

It came with a divider, would it be possible to keep two separated male bettas or is it too small?

What are my other options for combinations (number of fish ans species?) I'm very nervous! I don't want my fish to die!

definately not more then 1 betta and a couple of apple snails as example

but you should still get a heater for him, because they thrive in temperatures of 76-82 degrees
also live plants for your tank

if you want to keep more fishes, your choices are really limited

4 neon tetras
or
3 male guppy's
or
3 male dwarf platies

and a couple of apple snails on either one

here is also an article on proper care for a betta

hope that helps
Good luck

Goldfish are def. out. They need at least a 20 gallon tank. It's a great size for bettas. I like to keep my bettas in at least a 2.5 gallon tank. If it came with a heater, you can keep 3 very small tetras together.

i have about 1/2 dozen of the same tank -- one betta per tank. i got the first one and had it divided. i started feeling sorry for them and now i have a room full of bettas in their own tanks. you can keep 2 bettas in it -- i just had too many problems as one is always more agressive than the other and there were nipped fins through the divider. i had 1/2 moons so they had a little more tail than most. they really are happier with the whole tank to themselves though.

betas are the ticket, and yes if it has a seperater then you ca keep 2 betas in it. I have 1 male beta in a 2 gallon and what I wold sugest is 1 beta because the bowls they sell are way too small .

i like plattys, they are fairly small, and dont require alot of care... check them out, and do some research on them... you could only have like one fish in that tank...

gold fish are never out........they are some of the strongest fish ever.......beside that..............tetra are always an option.....one male Betta plus 5 tetra would be OK........clean the tank twice a week though..
