Their whole agenda in making it a big deal was to deflect attention away from Petraeus' report and the lies being told.
And is worked at least to the extent that Congress even voted on it!
22 Democrats voted to condemn something they know to be true! It is their duty and ours too, to condemn injustice when we know it is happening. But only Barack Obama, that I know of, had the strength of character to ignore the vote and treated it as the triviality it was.

As usual Republicans don't want to deal with real issues like troops in Iraq and getting them home. Like Bush we will stuck in Iraq for years to come at a cost to tax payers for generations.
The ads by swift boat action group in 2004 used lies to under mind the Mr. Kerry they attack man and again not deal with the issues.

I don't know how much time was spent on it, but considering how much time the senate needs to spend on the defense budget bill and it's over 100 amendments, it seems to me it could have waited. I'm wondering what in the world that one answerer thinks the Jena 6 has to do with the US Senate.

The Country and it's government are getting into twist about troll(s) with his/her/their own website.
If an individual poster on yahoo made statements moveon did they would simply be labeled as TROLL.
So what is so different about making the same remarks on a website?
The goal is the same.
Get people in twist and attract attention to oneself
(or ones website).
Pretty competitive out there.
Anything goes.
You should have been around in the sixties.
I was walking through the PORT AUTHORITY BUS TERMINAL in NYC.
Somebody was selling "THE BLACK PANTHER."
(yelling "extra extrra get your Black Panther!!"
swear to god
I bought one.
Inside was editorial cartoon of LBJ....
wearing BBQ chef clothes...Kinda like bib overalls.
He was wearing his big cowboy hat and standing in front of bar b q grill with big barbecue fork in his hand. And skewered on fork was Vietnamese peasant.
And Bar b q'ing away on the grill.....
more Vietnamese peasants...young and old.
SO WHATS NEW ABOUT MOVEON?
People are thin skinned namby pamby snivelling wusses these days.
Wouldn't know free speech if it ran up and bit them on the ***.
During World War Two a newspaper printed editorial cartoon of George Patton with Swastika on boot. Response to slapping incident.
The world did not come to end and we still won.
So I am not going to get worked up about moveon.
add: and I am going to post on miitary.com and see if I can find that editorial cartoon about Patton.
add:
Bradley: You wanted to see me, George?
Patton: I've got a letter here from Ike.(gives him letter) I was re-reading Caesar's Commentaries last night. In battle, Caesar wore a red robe, to distinguish him from his men. I was struck by that fact because (trails off) "Despicable"--it's the first time in my life anyone's ever applied that word to me.
Bradley: Well, at least it's a personal reprimand, it's not official.
Patton: The man was yellow. He should have been tried for cowardice and shot. My God! Have they forgotten about all the people who have taken a helluva lot worse than a little kick in the pants? I ruffled his pride a little bit, what's that compared to war? Two weeks ago, when we took Palermo, they called me a hero, said I was the greatest general since Stonewall Jackson.
Bradley: (with good humor) And now they draw cartoons about you.
Patton: The dirty bastard! They've got me holding a little GI there and kicking him with an iron boot. Do you see that, what's on my boot! A swastika! On my boot, an iron boot with a swastika on it! (reading from letter) "You will apologize to the soldier you slapped, to all the medical personnel in the tent at the time, to every patient in the tent who can be reached, and last but not least the Seventh Army as a whole, through individual units, one at a time ." God, I feel alone.

You should care that a single person, a zillionaire, is able to hijack the political process and the media to promote his idea of a new world order which is in direct opposition to public opinion and the constitution while you can't vote for the guy.
This comedian was taken in to this country so he could make his fortune and he holds the money in off shore accounts so as not to pay taxes and uses the money to subvert the very system that fed him.
He has the nerve to say somebody else is a betrayer?
You should care deeply.

I agree. We should focus on more important issues. There are many things going on right now. The Jena 6, Iranian President is coming to the U.S. and speaking at Columbia University, the war in Iraq is going on, upcoming presidential elections etc.

This time I must disagree with you.
You do not get how "our enemies" use our own propaganda against us. It was a good idea for our Congress to come together on this point.
The swift boats vets, where never proved to be deceitful, it indeed what quite the opposite.
With the Democratic election machine behind Kerry, believe me if it was not true, the MSM would not have ran with it,

What's amazing is this:The GOP repeatedly gets "outraged"over minutae, get the corporate media to go along for the ride, get their easily distracted base all excited and screaming their fool heads off, while the whole time the truth is ignored, and the Democrats fall for it every time.
