there is a protest to uphold 6 thugs who lynched a kid what if the situation was reversed and the white people protested, would there be riots? would the good rev. sharptongue have more people protesting than what he does now? he and the naacp would be pushing for hate crimes and life sentences thats gauranteed. why is there not a counter protest, are white people scared or smart and allow the law to do there jobs. blacks need to drop the race card, accept the penalties for their actions and life would be better. how does it make the white kid feel knowing that there is thousands of black people condoning his beating and trying to lessen the penalties of the thugs that gave it to him and to top it all that idiot sharpton or sharptongue is taking it to washington so he can play the race card . people help me understand is this wrong or right

PLEASE read the details of the story. Protestors aren't asking for special rights for these defendents--they're asking for *equal* rights, the same rights white defendants have been getting in Jena for over a year.

Read the details about the white gunman who wasn't charged, while the three black youths who disarmed him were charged with assault and robbery. Read about how the boys' sneakers were redefined as "murder weapons."

Remember that the requests are for reasonable bail, and for juveniles to be tried as juveniles, and for assault to be called assault and not "conspiracy to commit murder." How do these requests "condone a beating?" They're just calling it a beating. Yes, a crime. No, not attempted murder--not by a legal definition. Not unless you're in Jena, LA.

Then tell me you think that whites are MORE discriminated against. While there may be occasional reverse discrimination in this country, anyone who thinks it's across-the-board more prevalent than the discrimination against blacks must have some kind of martyr complex.

The answer to the initial question would have to be blacks simply because whites are much more often in a position to discriminate. As far as condoning the offense, that is misinterpretation of what has happened. The protest is over disparate sentencing not over the offense itself. It would be like if you patted a coworker on the behind and were charged with rape. I would not protest that what you did was right, but I would protest that the consequence was inappropriate, especially if the week before, your coworker grabbed and kissed her and was only suspended for two days.

I didn't read all your propaganda. You have your facts wrong. Six black kids did not lynch a kid. White kids threatened black kids, not only with nooses but with guns and got a slap on the wrist for justice. The white kid got beat up, but not badly. Was it wrong to do that? Yes, legally it was. But should he have been tried as an adult? There are a lot of people who think that justice is not handed out fairly in that town. The march only brings attention to the situation so that justice can be meted out fairly and everyone will be held accountable for their actions as it should have been done from the beginning. Let's be fair to everyone. . .

When i am in the post office line whites,
When i am in a black neighboorhood with my black son- blacks cause "he got a white daddy"
When I am in Quitman ARkansas -Blacks
When I attemtped to register at a black university- whites
When i drive down teh interstate and a black pulsl a gun on me and yells what you looking at craker- whites
When the old lady at the hosptil tells her doc she don't want no """" nurse blacks

if there are 10 cases of discrimnation then
in 1960 blacks by about 9 to 1
In 2007 blacks by about 1.75 to 1
in 2007 hispanics about 2 to 1

but the most viscious racists i know are not white - my white friends don't despise my mixed family but the black person in walmart sure does- they say it my face

" oh you think you all that with a black baby, you don't know nothing 'bout black babies- he aint gonna be nothing but an oreo"

Nope they are never racist. But then again i haven't had 400 years of taking the crap they have- maybe i woudl be angry all the time and see stuff that wasn't really there too.

hard hard issue.

Neither. Its all in our heads. Don't play the victim and don't let yourself be a victim.

My husband is being harassed at work for being Hispanic, and he has the right to stand up for himself. But if he were to act like his boss he would be seen as an "animal". None of this would ever happen if people would just act right.
