aside from wasting $3 billion dollars a week in Iraq. Why do we have mercanaries like blackwater doing the job we pay the U.S. military to do?

is blackwater simply an OPFOR designed to keep Iraq out of control? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OPFOR

or is blackwater just a good way to pay someone to do the job that the military is supposed to do? just to waste more American Tax dollars?

which is it?

I should add, or is Blackwater just a good way to "accidently" lose sensitive items. And let the "enemy" get them?

Seems like a good way to move arms to the enemy under he radar. "accidently" lose them. or rather blame the little guy like this administration always does. You know the"fall guy"

Good question: speaking of money - Yesterday, Friday September 21st, 2007, the Put Option contract on billions of dollars of indexed stock options expired. It was bought on August 27, 2007. In order for these anonymous people to profit handsomely from this bet, the stock market would need to go down at least 1/3 to 1/2 of its present value. It did not and these anonymous individuals lost their shirt on the 21st of September - in the billions of dollars. This was regarded by some traders on the floor as "Bin Laden Trades". This was reminescent of the insider trading that occurred before 911. Very interesting. It would take another terrorist attack on the scale of 911 to influence the market to such an extent, or perhaps the bombing of Iran which would precipitate the possible collapse of markets worldwide as oil production in that region would decline, sending oil futures through the roof. You can imagine the impact. Now follow this timeline:

August 27 - Put options purchased in the billions betting on the massive decline of the stock market.

August 30 - A B-52 bomber flies from North Dakota to Louisiana with 6 Nuclear-tipped Cruise Missiles under its wings (Live) in direct violation of US Airfoce regulations and federal law. It sits on the tarmac for 10 hours and Airforce personnel blow the whistle and quaratine the plane.

September 6 - Israel Bombs northern Syria in an unprovoked attack on a sovereign nation. The US Airforce launches and investigation into the transportation of Nuclear weapons over US Airspace and civilian popuations.

September 21 - Put option contracts expire - unknown individuals, corporations, holding companies, off shore corporations, etc, lose billions as the market did not decline.

Was this B-52 bomber on its way to bomb Iranian nuclear facilities in a covert mission without US Military/Joint Chiefs of Staff approval? The bombing of Iranian targets would have had a massive affect on the markets worldwide and possibly started WW3 in the Gulf region? Did US military personnel blow the whistle on the covert mission? Who lost their shirt in the Markets? Are psychopaths running the US government?

You be the judge.

Because the people that owns company's such as Blackwater and Haliburton are friends of the president and are in business with the presidents father. These company's are able to deliver a logistic solution the American army is demanding in their war zones. And thanks to this, the oil war tourists/soldiers serving there can feel like home, and avoid any contact or experience with Iraqi or Afghanistan culture. You don't expect a American soldiers to live in tents and eat foreign food do you? LOL! After all, there is no front in this war and no visible enemy's... Sounds like real paradise for the paranoid! And I bet it is...

smsmith500 - forget the partisan finger-pointing. This is all about the ruling class vs everyone else.

Shelly - you've pretty much answered this one yourself in your follow up. Mercenaries such as the Blackwater units are specialists who aren't hamstrung by rules of engagement and employ the "anything goes" modality.

Think of them as the privatised equivalent to the Special Air Services (SAS) of Britain and Australia. In other words, they're state-sponsored terrorists. But they're the "good" kind, because they work for us.

They're needed because of the steadily declining quality of recruits in the military. Admission standards have been lowered repeatedly to secure the numbers. The current average IQ is around 75.

The fact that the public purse is being raided to fund these units? Well, it's only 9 trillion deficit, right? What's a few billion more?

I don't, but then I a member of the Libertarian wing of the party that I am about to abandon!

Yes, girlfriend Blackwater is bad, hence its name. The only reason that this administration is farming out what used to be the military's job is to make the rich richer and the rest of us poorer. The idiot @sses must be planning on moving to another planet when our nation finally collapses?

This sorry @ss administration and the b@st@rds that are running it have never acknowledged the phrase, "conflict of interest".

gramma_arlene, I despise those people and am leaving the party!

Debra H, it sickens me to the core. I wish that we could all get together and change things, but how? Both sides in this bicameral, electoral system control everthing. All they do is play "bait & switch" on all of us, all of the time!

fenx1200, yes, you have it figured out. Now what brother? Oh yeah, you forgot to mention that it was Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA!

i might say it replaced into incredibly risk-free in Dubai as a trip spot. The Emirate of Dubai runs a superb notch instruct. As this emirate is short in oil money it has created a centre for international commerce, international finance and international tourism. If the money is in money (and not basically on paper) then its probably doubly look after there, as crime costs are low. it would count although on the workers of Halliburton who ultimately in cost of the money.

I posed a similar question to this, some weeks ago, and to my surprise, a bunch of middle-class Republicans answered that they owned some Halliburton stock and were happy that it had gone up and they made money. This exposes the thinking of right-wingers who make money off of the tragedy of war! Check out the profit of 22 million to Cheney for his stock! And some people actually idolize these oil-barons who use all Americans to get richer and more powerful. Makes me sick!

Apparently so Blackwater can sell weapons to terrorists, and the GOP can keep Americans living in fear.

That's easy! bush and cheney own huge stock options in both, along with many other companies profiting off this war, not to mention the stock they both own in big oil who are one of 2 of the top profiteers in this war, next to haliburton. See Simple! Oh and lets not forget no one he loves or even cares about has to die for it!

There is no money wasted in Iraq. In fact, money is never "wasted." It just changes hands. The $Trillion spent on this Iraq occupation has gone from the future treasury to the pockets of Halliburton, Blackwater, Boeing, GE, Carlyse Group, etc. Did you really think this corporate president would have it any other way?
