Seemingly we do not know at what direction is this heading, Some refuse independence, others decline statehood. Should Congress or whomever has the power to do so, hand the Spanish what was once a possession of the monarchy? Would not it be easier rather that scratching and turning our heads the other way?

Jim Sock you'll get no argument from I. If you read the body of the posted question, It is hard to determine the status quo. Thats why I post whether it'll be easier. And no, Spain is not asking for it back.

Give Puerto Rico to the Puerto Ricans.
How's that for a novel idea?
You know, self determination?

typical yank claptrap, puerto rico is puerto rico, full of puerto ricans....is that too hard a concept for you to digest?
the people of that country (its still isn't usa) have the right to determine their own course, or will you curtail that basic human right?
read history moron, portugal and spain lost all their possessions in the new world a long time ago, which were popular decisions supported by the majority of the countries in questions.
turning back time is a huge ambition, but thats the us for you.
why not enslave your own people, indians, blacks, hispanics...
oh thats right, you do that already!

And give away that military stronghold during wartime? I think not. The US will dump piles of money on Puerto Rico before that happens. I'm surprised they haven't done more to take advantage of the situation already.
