What arguements could Hilary use to discredit an incumbent female Democrat in the Presidency? Pelosi is MUCH less a threat to our Constitution then the Chicago Arkansan from New York!

JFra, read your Constitution. If they resign simultaneously, the Speaker is President. That is the present Constitution. Besides, which "they" does the appointing?

Twenty-fifth Amendment covers presidential succession. Death is not a requirement, and if both P & VP go at the same instant, as in a cooperative resignation, the Speaker becomes Pres. NOT the Pres Pro Tem.

Billary will get a story leaked about Pelosi's family ties to the mob on the Baltimore docks and her bank accounts in American Samoa.
Slam dunk.

Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the House of Representatives; not the President. She will not be the President (in the foreseeable future) unless elected.

I guess I have to go into a civics lesson. Here's how it works:

If the President leaves office prematurely, the Vice President assumes the Presidency and appoints his new Vice President. If the Vice President leaves office Prematurely, the President appoints his new Vice President.

I guarantee you that both the President and Vice President know who they would appoint if need be, and would make that announcement upon hearing of the other's status. So, the only way that a democrat would take the place of a republican President (or Vice President, for that matter) is if both died at the exact same time.

Therefore, your scenario is irrelevant.

Very interesting proposition. I'm sure Ms. Clinton would have a big quandary on her hands! But two things are true, I think: 1) It's not about gender - it's about governing, and 2) I don't agree with your last assertion, that Pelosi would be better than Clinton. I think that they're both train wrecks.

That isn't how it works, they would appoint replacements. Polosi only gets in if both Pres and VP are killed at the same time.
