Windows Vista is just Windows XP Home with a big fanciful GUI (graphical user interface) and to do that they have sacrificed a decent driver database, that's why so many people have problems with driver issues in Vista. It lacks drivers. The first service pack for Vista is due for release in January 2008.

I am probably the first person to answer this question that actually knows you NEED Vista to play Halo 2. Vista is fine, still a few minor quirks, but nothing you can't work through. If you really want Halo 2, and you have no XBOX, then I would say go ahead and upgrade.

Stick with XP until they release Vista Service Pack 1.

I have a Vista laptop now, but I don't use it for gaming. I'm not sure if Vista is compatible with most games now, so don't for now, just to be on the safe side.
