Depends on if the wedding is formal or not. To be on the safe side, you should probably wear a nice pair of slacks, a nice collared shirt, no need for a tie, nice shoes (no sneakers, no sandals) and a nice jacket/sweater.

Do you have dress pants and a dress shirt? Is it a wedding during the day?

If you have dress pants and a dress shirt wear that. Tuck in the shirt for sure and wear a tie if you have one.

If you don't have dress pants you could try get away with a pair of clean khaki pants, make sure they have no holes or look raggity, and wear the dress shirt.

If you don't have dress pants or a dress shirt see if you can borrow them off a relative or friend about your size if you really don't want to buy them. It's a good idea to buy them though since you'll always have something to wear to an occasion like a wedding :)

Also, it's always good to have a suit! If you can't afford one though or don't have enoguh time, do the dress shirt/pants thing. It's less expensive and can worn to a variety of functions and be perfectly acceptable.

Have fun at the wedding! :)

Weddings today do not require suits or extremely formal attire unless you are part of the wedding party or the parents of the bride or groom. Any nice looking outfit that you would wear to church or a special event is proper. If the season is right, you can wear a vest alone with a shirt, or a vest swearter, or even a turtle neck shirt with a dress shirt over the top of it. You can also wear a turtle neck shirt with a v-neck sweater too. You can also wear just a nice dress shirt with a tie and no vest or sweater. All are appropriate with dress slacks and not jeans.

Your best casual wear;-} not jeans!
Some casual pants in a solid colour, like black.
A good shirt;-} either dressy with a tie, or open polo kneck.
Another option for Fall, is a pullover sweater.
A sports jacket in rustic colours.
