It is much harder to perform if you know the person is guilty. Especially if your client is a child predator but you have to give them the same representation. It is hard especially when they admitted this to you. That's when you hope to God the DA can win the case.
Either way it's a necessary evil and like I always say it's better for 10 guilty men to go free than to have 1 man punished for a crime he didn't do.
If a guilty man gets off it's because the police didn't do their job or/and the DA couldn't prove their case.

That would depend on how deep your pockets are. Most high profile attorneys will defend you if you can afford their services,Guilty or Not ! Sometimes if you are indigent you may "luck out" and get a young aggressive public defender who is trying to establish him or herself. That is not always the case as lawyers are in a "pool" and are assigned cases when their "turn" comes about. Personally I think they are all not worth my time !

Yes.
Lawyers always perform better if they know the truth. Many people have landed in jail because they made the mistake of lying to their lawyer.

Lawyers perform best only when they know they're getting paid. The couldn't care less about their client's guilt or innocence.
