It really depends on the individual. Some persons at 70 can barely get around and others are just as active as they were in their 30s.
My Mother taught classical ballet until May 5, 2006, when she woke up that morning, she discovered that she couldn't see.( She was 85 then.)
It was devastating for all of us.

Last year after finishing running a marathon there was a big fuss at the finish line so I went back. There was a finisher who was 76 years old. They announced his name and age when he crossed the finish line and a roar went up from the spectators.
I know what I'll be doing when I am 76.

My Dad retired at 70.

He is lucky to be working at his age. Most old folks probably wish they could re-enter the workforce, but adverse health conditions or mental complacency have gotten in the way. Want to know what retirement is? Sit in your house for a week.

My hubby had to retire at 64 because his back gave
out. If he had his way he would still work several days
a week. He just turned 76 today--the 21st. His boss
was thrilled that he wanted to work longer--his back
had other ideas. He loved his work and started at 16.

I plan on working until I am at least 70. I watched my father wither after he retired. Not me.

My dad is 70 and still works!!!! he'd go Nuts being at home with his wife (my Mom) of 50 years!!!

No, I knew this person that was in his late 80s and worked as a post man and was swearing up a storm when they finally laid him off.
