I understand what you are saying, but even someone as critical as I am about my favorite NHL team, I don't think it is entirely accurate in this case. The Phantoms benefitted from the NHL lockout when they won the Calder Cup that year. I'd say for the most part that the Flyers and Phantoms have been somewhere near even since the AHL club was established.
I forgot to mention that the Phantoms won their first Calder Cup at a time when the Big Club reached the Finals against the Red Wings.

Well, you don't make any sense. An AHL team is an extension of an NHL team so all it says is that they may have some decent prospects (combined with older career AHLers).
Besides, the Phantoms have MISSED the play-offs the last 2 years. The Flyers have missed the play-offs ONCE (last year) in the past 12 years.
Furthermore, that you call it a "major league hockey team" tells me you might not be too up on the sport anyway.
Furthermore, you really need to read up on the meaning of "ironic".
I could continue but you get the gist of it.

Well, for starters you should look up the definition of ironic as well as what idioms are. Second, you are comparing apples to oranges. You can't compare the minor league team to the major league team. Also, it would be nice that you actually had a clue what you were talking about. The Flyers have had one bad year and have made the playoffs every year since they last missed them in 1993-94 so not counting the lock out season, they made the playoffs for 12 straight seasons. So, where you got "sucked for a couple of years" I don't know. As for the Phantoms, they also were horrible last season. Sure they've won a couple of Calder Cups but that doesn't mean the parent team sucks. In fact, the Flyers have been one of the most consistant franchises in the NHL only failing to make the playoffs 7 out of their 40 seasons of existance. So, again, get a clue and maybe we'll let you back into the conversation.
Oh, and Bob, nice avatar of Bernie!

Major league hockey? What? Enough with the misnomers.
Why does it make no sense? Maybe other teams have all their good young players up with the parent club.
I wouldn't worry about the Flyers. They'll be in the playoffs this season. They made some great moves and the good players from the A will stick.

The Flyers actually went out and signed some top free agents this year so I wouldn't count them out.
Besides, the Phantoms are not as good as the Hershey Bears.

Or they are just bidding their time and hoping to create a good team in the future.
A team is only as good as it's prospects.
PS I hate the Flyers.
