I'm going with Smells Like Teen Spirit too.

It was both critically well-received AND vastly popular, came to be seen as the "anthem" for the grunge movement (please don't respond to nitpick about whether Mudhoney or some other grunge act is "better" that's not the point...when people hear "grunge" they usually think "Nirvana") and still plays well, IMHO, over a decade later.

Wait, most memorable songs from the '90's, and nobody's said "No Rain", by Blind Melon? I think that summed up the 90's perfectly, because it was kinda moody, lowkey, and catchy. Plus, the only song that ever reached any kind of audience before the lead singer died.
