I have been given 9. yet i'm able to work out have been he might think of the respond is 4.5. (20-8)/4x2+3=9 right this is the suited way: (20-8)=12 12/4x2+3= you do your branch then you certainly multiply, in basic terms the ordinary arithmetic regulations, so 12/4=3 Now you have 3x2+3, 3x2=6 6+3=9 the respond is 9. the respond is 4.5 only whilst the question is written as (20-8)/(4x2) + 3 Then your paintings might look like: (20-8)=12 12/(4x2) +3 12/8 +3 a million.5 +3= answer = 4.5 Did your professor supply you the suited question? Professors make blunders too. Did you reproduction it down incorrect? Please Excuse My expensive Aunt Sally: Parentheses, Exponential, Multiply, Divide, upload, Subtract. yet undergo in concepts, you multiply OR divide & you upload OR subtract, whichever comes first in the equation. not the stern precise order wherein the mnuemonic sentence has it written.

Well, you did not place a () so by the rules of operations, mutiplication must come first. With that in mind, you must multiply the 4 x 2 first and then you get this
4+8 =12
So the answer is 12. If there is no () you must do the multiply first. That is why they teach you this because if you did not want to do it this way, by the rules of math, you would need a () to do the adding first.
Hope this helps

see, in these type of questions you use the bodmas rule-
first, bracket open
then, division
then, multiplication
then, addition
and at last, subtraction.....
so, 4+4x2 CANNOT be 8x2 that is 16.....
but, it is, 4x2=8
8+4= 12
12 is the answer and there is your formula

You use the order of operations. It is parentheses/brackets, exponents, multiply/divide from left to right, and add/subtract from left to right. I remember it as PEMDAS.
P-Parentheses
E-Exponents
M-Multiply
D-Divide
A-Add
S-Subtract
so it would be:
4+4x2
Multiply first: 4x2
so it would be:
4+8
that is: 12!!
