I don't like these new weird names that are coming out. Pretty soon everyone's name is going to be so unique, that nobody's name is unique. So what do think of Sarah Rae with a 4-syllable last name?

I've always liked the name Sarah, it goes well with many names. Regular names are getting to be unique because they are less common anymore. Unique names don't bother me, weird spellings of names do though. Sarah Rae is cute.

Sarah Rae sounds cute i would have never thought of Rae to go with Sarah. Have u thought of Sara Rae with out the h just to make it a little unique if u wanted to so it can be a common name with a unique spelling. But I like the name so just go with it.

Sarah Rae is very nice. I would spell it the same way, as R-a-y reminds me of a boy's name, and R-a-e of a girl's name. Agree with you totally on the "unique" names. It seems like people are picking names just to be different, not because it's actually a nice name.

I don't like Rae at all. Sarah is cute, though. What about Sarah Anne, Sarah Beth, or Sarah Elizabeth?

BTW: Rae is a spin-off of Rachel, so how does that make Rae a "NORMAL" name as opposed to Jaelyn (for example), which is a popular American name meaning supplanter?

You are so right, the names people are using seem to come right off the TV screen especially the "soaps". To tell the truth I like names a child would be proud of not one that when the teacher calls the roll they want to hide under their desk.
I like the rhythm of Sarah Rae with the 4 syllable last name.
Faith Anne, Barbara Lynn, Carol Rose, Mary Ella, Emma Jean, just a few more "normal names"..best wishes to both of you!

My daughter's name is Sarah so I love the name, of course. She is almost never the only Sarah in whatever situation she's in but, she's never complained about her name. I considered (briefly) naming her Sasha or Sadie and when I tell her that, she cringes. I know you said you have a simple last name so, the only thing I would consider is that it might not be so great if your simple last name is also a common one because then she might even be in a situtation where someone has her first and last name and that can just be a pain in the neck to deal with! Otherwise go for it!!

It's pretty. I too am partial to normal-classic names! For boys, I still love the name Michael, like most of the USA!! For girls, I love the names Emily & Sophia. I think Emily is the #1 or #2 most popular in the USA too!! With a 4 syllable last name, you'd want to keep the same pretty but without too many syllables in the first name.

I personally LOVE Sarah and if we were having a girl that would have been her name. I could care less if there were a dozen other "Sarah's" out there becasue MINE is the only one that counts ;-)

With that being said, we named out son a common name, Matthew. In 2005 it was ranked #6-but all I thought of is how wonderful the name sounded with our family, and it just felt right to us.

We did give him 2 middle names-1 traditionally named after my dad, and the other was something hubby really fought for. His name is Matthew Jay Sebastian.
