Your age? You are still very young, even if you don't feel it. There are people who go back to school in their 50s and 60s, and even later! Absolutely go for it. The GED won't matter once you have an associates' degree from the community college. If you do well, no one will care what you did before. There is no "minimum GPA" for getting into a university, but they will pick the best of the applications that they get, so at some universities, you may have trouble getting in with a 3.8, at others you could get in with a 2.8. It just depends on how many people applied to go there and what their records look like.

Congratulations for going after your dream..... it is never too late to start. It doesn't make a bit of difference that you have a GED - as a matter of fact you'll probably be able to use it to your advantage when you write your application for medical school. they appreciate someone who learns from adversity and succeeds anyway.
It is good to have a vision for the future - but don't get too married to the idea of medical school. there are a hundred professions inbetween where you are now and 10 years from now - many haven't even been thought of. Once you get into the medical field there are many options from technicians (ultra sound, XRay) to lab specialists, surgical technicians, it is wide open
So don't freak yourself out, or second guess yourself to death. you've started back to school - take some classes and get your feet wet. then take some more. if you have a 4 year university in mind, get their catalog and follow their recipe of required courses - get them out of the way. Don't take a lot of fluff - stick to your plan. Basic requirements are pretty similar across all universities - and they are a lot cheaper to take at the CC campus.
Then go meet a counselor at the university - they love helping older students because they are so much more focused and they may be able to get you where you need to be with $$$$ and advice.
when you get down, think of how you succeeded to get where you are. you're making a great start. stick with it... and good luck

Watch Patch Adams.
If you get your associates degree at the community college a university will generally accept you assuming your grades are up to par. Medical school is no joke. Four years for medical school and a few more years of residency after that. If you want to make money being a doctor is NOT the best avenue. When you get to university work on getting a high GPA. Rock the MCAT. Ask yourself, am I willing to sacrifice enough to make my dream come true? Is it my first and foremost priority? If you want it bad enough and you work and work and work and work....sure you can do it.

I'd say go for it. You realize of course that it's going to be a lot of work! If you're up to it, you can do it. If not, you'll know soon enough.
The GED won't matter if you get really high grades at community college, and then in pre-med. It just means you have to work that much harder!
Even if you don't get through medical school, your schooling will take you somewhere interesting. There are lots of good, secure, high-paying jobs in the health care field.

You're joking, right? How on earth do you think you cannot attain your dreams ?? I am appalled!
Yes, they will accept you with a GED. You're associates will be the focus of the application for pre-med. They'll look at that and your GPA--keep it above 3.0 and make sure you do extra things like cubs and whatnot IN A LEADERSHIP capacity. Do outside volunteer work--they like that.
Hope this helps and good luck!

You are so young! Of course you can achieve your dreams. And actually, starting where you are, you will have a little more maturity at this point than you would have a couple of years ago. Good luck!
