Somethings may hurt us in trying to protect us, but; somethings protect us without harm.
Anything is a global a declaration.
As long as there is one thing that would protect us and never harm us there is an exception to that rule.

yes the air we breathe,it harms us if gases like CO&CO2 etc gets into our system it can kill us
