My husband and I are expecting our second child this January, another boy. Our first son's name is Tyler James. I'm torn between Riley Michael and Rylan Michael. My husband likes Ryan but it's too plain for me so I choose names that were close to it. Which one do you like better? Any other name ideas that are somewhat different but not totally out there that go well with a middle name "Michael"? (Michael is in honor of our friend who recently passed away on 8/14/07 at age 24 due to a drunk driver)

I love Tyler James (but my hubby is a Tiler so that wouldn't work for us!) and I think Riley over Rylan but then I like Ryan too! Its all too hard!!
I'd probably go with Rylan/Ryan because Riley is a cute name but as an adult I don't know that it quite fits. Rylan just sounds more like a name I could see on a 30 something guy as well as a toddler. Hope that makes sense!
Michael fits well with any of them and is such a lovely gesture to your friends family.

I like Ryan Michael a lot. It sounds great!
I don't care for the others, Riley is too popular and Rylan is just kinda strange. Michael for a first name would be great too.

I would pick Rylan Michael. I really like Riley and I think it's a cute boy name, but lots of people are naming girls Riley. So you need a name that definately a boy n ame.

I'm sorry to disagree with you, but I prefer your husband's choice better. But that's just me, as I tend to prefer more common names. Riley just doesn't sound cute as an adult. Not a fan of Rylan. I do like the sound of Tyler & Ryan together. Try shouting out the names as if you were calling them to the dinner table to see if it just sounds right to you.
All the best to you for coming up with a name you can both agree upon.
My son's middle name is Sebastian; so perhaps Sebastian Michael? Do you like the way Tyler & Sebastian sound?
