If I were smart (obviously I'm not) I would keep this on a clipboard to use 20 times a week. This is common first aid for sprains or bruises.

RICE

Rest
Ice (20 min on, 20 min off)
Compression (Wrap it in an ace bandage, not too tight, leave it on overnight).
Elevation Your ankle needs to be higher than your heart.

Take Ibuprofen 200 mgs tablets. If you weigh more than 100 lbs, take 4 tablets every 6 hours.

If this pain isn't substantially better by Monday, go see your dr.

You most likely slightly tore the tendons OR ligaments. It's a strain, or a.k.a. a minor sprain. Get some Aspercreme w/ aloe and put it on there every night and morning. Wear an ankle brace. And trust me, if you don't do it soon it could mess your ankle up for a while, I did the same thing snowboarding in february and I still can't run over 50 yds. w/out almost crying out loud. Take advil for the swelling too.

This recently happened to me, only I was playing basketball.
It seems to me like you have a more minor case of a SPRAIN.
It's probably not a break.
Sprains tend to hurt like hell over night, because your brain is constantly sending signals to muscles while you sleep, and even more so to the newly pulled tendons, trying to heal.

Your best bet is to go see a doctor.
They'll prescribe whichever is most appropriate.
If you're suceptible to ibuprofen, they'll probably send you home with a prescription for 800-1000 mg ibuprofen capsules.
And in the meantime you can take ibuprofen in smaller forms, just don't go over 800 mg in one serving/at a time.
This should help, and I hope ya get better.

could be pulled tendons, riped tendons, strained muscles, or a mild fracture. for the pain i suggest a hot/cold pack and lots of advil or tylenol. If its to intense for you to stand go to you local doctor or urgent care unit.
