What other explanation for telling outright lies with a straight face?
Either he's a Bush military lackey gunning for more non-combat medals or he is in fact his own totally deluded man (aka Westmoreland?) or he's an overly ambitious man who sold his soul for a nice desk and living in a mansion. (aka Colin Powell?)
Whatever or whomever he is, he's not speaking the truth.

no, he was not. But if all you read is a liberal rag like truthout I can't help you. Petreaus was sent to Iraq by the Congress, with their approval to look at the situation and report on progress (or its lack) People like the ones you are citing didn't even wait to see what the report said before they started in on the General. So why don't you go back to Bush bashing, the General is out of your league.

Bush, as well as every other President, has a tendency to get rid of people that don't exactly agree with their views. When you get as high as Petreaus has, it basically all political. If he gave a contradicted testimony of Administration, he wouldn't have a job the next morning. Just because he has a uniform and four stars doesn't mean he can't lie, or be used as a political pawn. Frankly, I have learned never to trust what the government or it's officials say.

I have seen not one shred of evidence that he reported to the congress anything other than what he believed to be the truth in Iraq.
I really don't know what all the fuss is about. It's not like he painted a rosey picture.
Most of what he said pointed to a long and dangerous road ahead.
If anything, he was carrying water for the opposition to the war. If the left would just shut up for a second or two they would see that there is a lot for them to build on in his report, but, I guess they can't because they labeled it as a 'Betrayal' before they even heard it. Another opportunity missed.

Gen Petreaus is a good man but he must say what Bush tells him to say. (Bush is his boss) Petreaus knows the Iraq war is lost. He knows we can't win.

Yeah I'm sure some loser left wing kook safe and comfy stateside knows more about progress in Iraq than the commander who has been stationed there all this time. Wesley Clark was a "waterboy" for the Clinton Administration, Sandy Berger their "plumber".

No, I don't. Here is what I do believe however:
David Howell Petraeus is a general in the United States Army and commander of Multi-National Force—Iraq (MNF-I), the four-star post that oversees all U.S. forces in the country. He was confirmed to that position by the Senate in a vote of 81–0 on January 26, 2007

Gen. Petreaus is, without a doubt, an American hero...and Keith Olbermann is nothing compared to him. Neither is most of congress.

Totally out of the question that he might be an honest man telling the truth, isn't it?
Imagine how life would be if a General knew more about military affairs than the radical left wing. Just imagine it.
Now let me tell you a secret.
He does.

No, but I think Keith Olbermann attacks Bush at any chance he can, even if his argument is purely an opinionated statements with no damming facts. Olbermann, I'm sure, thinks it is no big deal to undermine the words of our highest military commander before they're even spoken.
