There should be a hose in t\an upper corner of the radiator. Fallow it to the motor. Where the hose is connected to the motor is the thermostat. When you change this make sure the hose has no fluid in it (this can be done by draining some of the fluid out of the radiator. MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS COOL BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!!! (To check this you can squeeze a radiator hose to see if it is soft. If it is soft then you can start, but be careful the fluid may still be hot... and be careful when you take off the radiator cap, hot air may SHOOT out and burn you).

Sounds like an overheating problem. Leave your thermostat where it is. Guaranteed it's not causing your problem. If people would bring a problem, with some symptoms, they could get better help. NEVER replace any part till you know the problem. Go to a RADIATOR SHOP and get it checked before you start replacing parts. I always recommend radiator shop because it is there specialty and they don't charge $60/hr. Usually an inspection for a problem is free.

follow the top radiator hose down to the engine, and in the housing that the hose is attached to the thermostat is located in under that housing, drain a small amount of coolant out of it,and it wont all spill out on you when you loosen the bolts in the housing, good luck with it.
