jena 6?! what is this teaching our children?!?

my child is bi-racial. both black as well as white and proud of it. my child is very young. im tired of people continuing to beat a dead horse! yes, racism does exist but constantly driving this down everyone's throat and blowing it way out of porportion...what does this teach our children?! that all black people steal, kill, and do drugs...and that all white people are bad and racists?! Come on!! when is this madness going to stop? when are people going to put the petty ignorance away and think of the children?! what does this say to our children? if this continues it is teaching our children to carry on this garbage. children LEARN racism....it is taught to them. they are not born racist. racism stems from ignorance. doesn't cases like "jena 6" only get racism stirred up? also....dont you realize children watch tv. Im sure not all the protesters have babysitters. im sure many took their children to this event. what do you think?

i agree. my mom is white, and my dad is half black and half white, though looks african american. I was raised by my mom, and i look white, so not many people know. Its so stupid when white people come up to me and say comments, im just like, that is so offensive! Gena 6 is just another thing that encourages rasism. RASISM NEEDS TO STOP

Here is my take on it ... and I am sorry if I offend any one ... There is no question that racism is rampid in the south, but the hatred comes from both sides of the street. The judge has explained the reasons why the boys were treated differently. What the white kids did in this case was morally wrong but not criminal, so how can they be prosecuted. There should be laws against what they did, but there isn't so the judge couldn't do anything about that. On the other hand the other boys were beaten which is against the law. The charges that were placed against them were higher then they should have been with the exception of the one boy that already had a criminal record. My father is from Scotlaneck, NC. There is a black side of town and white side of town. If you are not the right color you are not welcome on either side of the street. I am white and I stopped in an Arbys on the wrong side of town and I was asked to leave. If the movement is going to have any validity it has to be based on facts otherwise the people in the movement will be no better then the people that protesting against.

The problem with Jena 6 is that outside people and media misrepresented it as a race issue. It is a school safety issue. I work at a poor, rural high school where if students get into physical altercations, we have them arrested and file charges against them regardless of their race. This is because in recent years, young people (boys in particular) think nothing of beating the snot out of somebody and just getting a slap on the wrist. Yes, the noose incident was stupid and insensitive and was dealt with the strongest consequences the school had available. Beating a student unconscious by 6 students is dangerous and life threatening. We had a kid die a few years ago from a single freak blow by one student on another. Both kids were black, so nobody made a race issue of it. We can't keep minimizing school violence by using race as a red herring.

it would help if jesse jackson and al sharpton would stop the race baiting game. the black kids committed a crime. they do, however, deserve their just day in court. they should in no way, however, be considered victims. the victim is the white boy who was beaten. the motive can be researched and hopefully addressed sensibly in the near future if not sooner. this is really an open and shut case. theh beaters should be held accountable in a court of law. please note: one day a black beats a white, another a white beats a black, another a black beats a black, another a white beats a white. i do not see the jena crime as a color issue, but a crime.

I like black folks, Ive dated them, almost married one.
I have to say, I am so sick of Jackson and Sharpton that as soon as they get involved in anything I just stop listening.
They are fighting racism with racism.
I live in Baltimore and I am so fed up with white against black. I like in an almost 100% black area and you wouldn't believe the hostilities I have to deal with.
All Jena6 is doing is further polarizing the races deeper into their own corners.
