Most Mazda carb models have a vacuum throttle assist when the A/C is on. Check for a vacuum throttle assist near where the throttle cables connect to the carb. Check also when A/C is on and vehicle is running. Idle is probably to slow or too fast. There should be an adjustment on the canister to correct to a proper idle speed with the A/C on. Disconnect the vacuum hose while A/C is on to verify you are looking at the correct canister. Also verify there is no vacuum to canister when A/C is off.
