Pudge definately had a good run for a number of years, but like many catchers his production has lagged once he reached his 30s. HOF catchers tend to persevere on, and are most commonly judged on offensive output than defensive putouts. While for a span of 5 or 6 years Rodriguez and Piazza were the only game in town for catchers, in that span Pudge only had one year of 30+ HR and 100+ RBI (1999) while Piazza had 30+ HR and 100+ RBI for 6 years from 1995 to 2000 and now holds the record for most HRs by a catcher in MLB history. While Piazza wasn't exactly known for his arm, the offensive numbers that he led the Dodgers with, and then the Mets for so many years make him a Hall of Fame lock. He defined the mid 90's Dodgers and the late 90's early 00's Mets. You can't really say that Pudge defined the Rangers or the Tigers. While he's made a remarkable comeback with the Tigers, a comeback implies that he was performing poorly for some time. I think over his entire body of work, he's certainly deserving of consideration, but not a lock unless he manages to scrape together another 550 hits for 3000. At the end of this era, I think the prolific catcher of note who becomes the Hall of Fame lock is going to be Piazza, not Rodriguez.

Ivan rodriquez wears number 7, and is currently the catcher for the detroit tigers. his stats this year are a 276 batting average, 11 homeruns, 63 rbi's, 47 runs scored. unless there was another player named ivan rodriquez, then he is not in the hall of fame as he is still playing.
the list below came from the detroit tigers roster for this year.
ivan rodriquez

No he's still playing for the Detroit Tigers. You can't be elected to the Hall of Fame until you've been retired for 5 years.
He'll make it on the first ballot, since he's arguably the greatest catcher in history.

he isn't in the hall of fame yet you have to retire first, but eventually he will be since he has caught over 2,000 games a no hitter and a perfect game. he is definetly the greatest catcher to ever play the game, but he isn't having too good of a season.

As a top 5 catcher of all time, he'll be a first ballot for sure, five years after he retires though.
