Or should they be placed under "homework help?"
Should S&M have a "homework help" subcategory?

I would venture it depends of the nature of the question. If someone shows a circuit and asks what the current is a point A, or some other specific question I feel that belongs elsewhere.

However, if they come up with a partial answer, and are not sure how to solve it, that sounds like learning to me, and us math and science folks are all about that! =)

Comes down to are the slacking, or trying to learn in my book.

They make the tool harder to use for serious questions. It's hard to keep motivated to contribute when you must wade through pages of sheer laziness to find good questions. It's even worse in physics. There's so much more to science than figuring out how long it takes a ball to fall 5 meters, but if you refuse to learn even enough to figure that out, is there any hope for public education? Thanks for asking. I know you don't need the answer, but it helps vent frustration every once in a while.

Yahoo answers is for asking QUESTIONS. It is not a forum. This means it also includes homework questions and all types of questions. Telling someone to go use google is silly, because this is not a forum, it is for asking QUESTIONS.

If you don't want to answer a question don't. Only the people who want to will. And if anyone doesn't want to, it still doesn't matter. But don't answer a question to say "do your own homework".

Well..... If they're about science or math I don't see why not. Maybe we should have a homework section, but are HW questions really that much of a bother?
