remember that logB(x) = y means

B^y = x

so you have

5^y = 1/25

y = -2

A brief preamble
A logarithm is an exponent. That's it.
When I write log(2) 64 =6, I'm saying "the exponent that 2 has to have to = 64 is 6
log(4) 64=3...in other words, 4^3=64

For your problem, log(5)=1/25 asks the question
"5 raised to what exponent = 1/25?"
I can write 1/25 as 1/(5)^2, or 5^-2
Clearly, 5 raised to the exponent -2 = 1/25
We say log(5) 1/25 = -2
And that's your answer. You're welcome!

log5(1/25)
it is equal to log10(1/25)/log10(5)
= -2

let log be log to base 5 in the following:-
log (1 / 25) = log 5^(- 2) = (- 2) log 5 = ( - 2)
